Apply other makeup before mascara.
Open the mascara and wipe excess off the wand on the inner rim of the tube or on a tissue.
Lightly coat the lashes, starting from root to tip, sweep the mascara onto lashes from root to tip.

Repeat this action until you achieve your desired look.
